What We Do
We know that everyone likes to do exciting activities that get the blood pumping, and that's why our main goal is to run as many cool trips each semester as we can. The range and focus of these trips change slightly each year depending on the expertise of our leaders and the interests of our members, but for the most part we have broken our trip types into four categories: Hiking, Climbing, Water and Winter. Each of these groups hosts an array of activities, some that you may have tried and others that may make you branch out. We encourage students of all backgrounds and all outdoor experience levels to join us on our trips, and our only two general requirements are safety and a positive attitude. All of our leaders love the outdoors and each trip is a chance for them to share this love with each participant, to teach their skills and to have a good time.

Get Involved!
The first step is choosing a trip and signing up. Signups are open to all BC students on a first-come first-serve basis, so make sure to reserve a spot early as they may be limited. If you feel that you have a strong understanding of an outdoors activity that you would like to share, please get in touch with our Executive Board for more details on how to get started leading trips with OCBC. Being a trip leader requires a higher level of commitment, but pays off with experience, free trips and a great time. The next level of involvement is the Executive Board. Members of the e-board are usually current or ex- trip leaders with a lot of experience and/or a strong drive to learn and help the club.

Club History
The Boston College Outdoors Club was founded by a group of dedicated friends in the spring of 2012. These BC students decided that it was time to bring the outdoors to BC, and to help show their peers the natural world that they love. As the club grew under the leadership of the first president Keegan Dougherty (class of 2013), they went on their first trip to MetroRock, a rock climbing gym in Everett, MA. Over the the next few years the club leaders pushed hard to establish the club's place on campus. Although the club is still no more than a fledgeling organization at Boston College, it has garnered immense support from the student population, and all of its members and leaders work hard to bring BC students the outdoors experience that they deserve.
